I am looking forward to a new chapter in my legal career beginning in 2011. I am proud to be the Democratic nominee for the 201st District Court in Travis County, Texas. Thank you to my supporters, family and friends for making this nomination so rewarding and successful.
I believe a good judge knows the law, has an even temperament, an open mind, and respect amongst her peers. A good judge understands that the courts are not solely for judges and lawyers – but ultimately for the families and citizens whose disputes come before them. I am always cognizant that the first experience most people have at the courthouse is often their only experience at the courthouse, and that our duty as lawyers and judges is to make that experience a fair, efficient and understandable one for all citizens.
As I pursue a new chapter in my career and offer myself as a candidate for public office, please remember to vote in the general election on November 2, 2010. As your next civil district court judge in Travis County, I promise to always keep learning, keep listening and keep working hard to maintain that trust. Together, we can ensure the courts of Travis County keep up their record of efficient service and fair-minded rulings and remain accountable to, and representative of, all the residents of Travis County.
